Are online courses for you? We have designed a short quiz to help you find out.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why should I choose Online Professional Development (OPD)?
Online Professional Development (OPD) is a convenient and affordable way to get the tools you need to advance yourself personally and professionally. OPD provides you the added benefit of maximum flexibility. Take classes in the privacy of your home, at work or virtually anywhere you have access to the web.

What skills do I need to take an online course?
You should have basic computer skills. If you know how to navigate a web site, can use a drop down menu, browse for a file on your computer, have used a word processor like Microsoft Word, and are able to send an email with an attachment, then you have the technical skills needed to take an online course.

What do I need to succeed?
Students agree that flexibility, self scheduling and anytime anywhere access to course material are key advantages in taking an online class. However, online courses require frequent login, almost daily. Online discussions, assignments, materials, and announcements move along at a rapid rate. Most students find that online courses require a high level of personal organization and self discipline. In addition, most students find that online courses are at least as time consuming, perhaps even a bit more, than in-class courses. Please note: some online instructors do schedule periodic online class meetings.

If I experience a problem, how do I get support?
Online students have regular access to technical assistance by email and by phone. Email requests for help to opd@interact.ccsd.net. They are generally answered within 24 hours, sooner when possible. The telephone helpline hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm, phone 702-799-1921 x 5121or 0002-5121 (using the CCSD WAN) Monday – Friday.
